Phoenix Suns star point guard Steve Nash has been named the general manager of the Canadian men’s basketball team, according to the National Post.

“We want to be playing in the Olympics … We want to be in the hunt for medals,” Nash said.

“If all goes well, I’d like to get the group together for the first time late this summer,” Nash said in a release. “We are looking for a long-term commitment, to Canada and to the program. Playing for the national team was a major element in my development into an elite player and I believe it can be for a lot of our guys today.” Nash, 38, is a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player and is slotted to become a free-agent this offseason. He is an eight-time NBA All-Star.
