Red Sox Release John Maine From Minor-League Deal

The Boston Red Sox have released starting pitcher John Maine from his minor-league deal, according to HardballTalk.

Maine failed to make an appearance this spring within the Red Sox organization due to lingering shoulder issues. The former 15 game winner has not thrown a pitch in the Major Leagues since 2010.

Last season Maine posted a 7.43 ERA  in 11 starts for the Colorado Rockies TRiple-A affiliate. In 2010, he posted a 6.13 ERA in nine starts for the New York Mets.
