Donovan McNabb Drops 20 Pounds, Aims To Come Back Strong In 2012

Donovan McNabb has been on the decline since 2009, but he's currently working his way back into shape and setting his sights on a comeback, according to Nate Davis of USA Today.

"I'm in great shape, dropped 15-20 pounds," he said. "But again, it's not really about that. Because for me, people may have seen how strong I looked, and they kind of [assumed I was] maybe out of shape or whatever. But now that I'm lighter, people all of a sudden [are saying], 'Well, he's in shape.' I've been in shape."

McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles to an 11-5 record and an NFC East title in 2009, but it's been rocky ever since.

He lost his starting job to Rex Grossman on the 2010 Washington Redskins, and in 2011 he was a bust with the Minnesota Vikings, replaced by Christian Ponder mid-season and released soon after. He's currently a free agent, and the future is unclear.

"I stay motivated no matter what," he said. "I mean, if I go to NFC Championships, Pro Bowls, it doesn't matter. That's behind [me]. And one thing I think you have to be in this game that we call football is you have to have short-term memory."
