The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-hander reliever Claudio Vargas, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Vargas did not play in the Major Leagues in 2011 after retiring early in the summer. The 33-year-old had been playing for the Colorado Rockies Triple-A affiliate, but posted an 11.08 Era in 25 innings before deciding to call it quits.

In 2010 as a member of the Brewers, Vargas posted a 7.32 ERA in 17 appearances out of the bullpen. The right-hander’s best season came in 2009 when he posted a 1.78 ERA in 28 appearances for the Brewers.
