Report: Celtics' Avery Bradley out for season

A source close to Celtics guard Avery Bradley told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe that it's in the "high 90s" percentile that Bradley will be shut down for the rest of the season and that he may need surgery. According to Washburn: "The team's brass along with Bradley's representatives have decided it's too risky to play him for the remainder of the playoffs."

Bradley missed a second straight contest with his problematic left shoulder on Wednesday in the Celtics' 82-75 Game 6 loss to the 76ers. The shoulder has popped out of joint at least three times in recent weeks, and coach Doc Rivers said earlier this week that the second-year player also is having some problems with his right shoulder.

He was replaced in the starting lineup by Ray Allen, whom Bradley had supplanted in the second half of the season. Allen, who has been dealing with bone spurs in his right ankle and has struggled in the playoffs (he is averaging just 9.8 points this postseason), scored Boston's first two buckets of the night but added just five more points the rest of the way and was only able to play 25:46.
