A "plugged-in league source" told Chris Sheridan of that the Orlando Magic has finally decided to part ways with All-Star center Dwight Howard, with the team likely to begin soliciting trade offers after next week's draft lottery.

The source said that when the Magic team president traveled to Michigan last weekend to speak in person with owner Rich DeVos, the conclusion was reached that not only was it time for [coach] Stan Van Gundy and [general manager] Otis Smith to go, but Howard, too.
The two sides had appeared to reach a detente at the trade deadline, with Howard agreeing to waive his early termination option and remain in Orlando for the final year of his contract. But things obviously took a turn for the worse with Van Gundy's claim in early April that he had been told that Howard wanted him fired, and the subsequent firings of SVG and Smith haven't calmed the waters.
