Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland was placed on the disabled list because of shoulder fatigue Thursday, placing Alexi Ogando back in the starting rotation.

Ogando will pitch on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. Holland, who was sent back to Texas, has dealt with a stomach virus for two weeks which has decreased the strength in his shoulder. He will be examined on Friday.

"We want him at full strength," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We want to make sure we find out what this is and give him a chance to fully recover."

Holland is 5-4 with a 5.10 ERA in 11 starts this season. Ogando is 1-0 with one save in 31 2/3 innings pitched.

Ogando has been in the bullpen all season because of the signing of Yu Darvish.
