A new contract for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees may be done sooner than later, according to ESPN.com.
Brees' agent Tom Condon and suspended general manager Mickey Loomis are trying to close a salary difference of $2 million per year. Sources tell the website that the two sides have started talking again this week.
Brees has missed the organized team activities and the mandatory camp for all signed players and has not signed his franchise tender, which is worth $16.371 million. Brees, 33, threw for an NFL-record 5,476 yards with 46 TDs and 14 INTs last season. He also completed a record 71.2 percent of his passes.
