Multiple sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that once Larry Bird finalizes his deal to remain president of the Indiana Pacers, he will replace general manager David Morway with director of player personnel Kevin Pritchard.

Wojnarowski writes:

Despite joining the organization as a subordinate to Morway, Pritchard rapidly usurped power and influence since his hiring a year ago, league sources said. Pacers owner Herb Simon and Morway were wary of bringing Pritchard into the organization, sources said, but Bird trusts Pritchard’s counsel and has pushed for this change.

Pritchard is the former G.M. of the Portland Trail Blazers, perhaps best known for taking Greg Oden with the top pick of the 2007 draft rather than Kevin Durant.

Morway helped shape the Pacers into a unit that had the fifth-best record in the league this season, but Bird has final say on personnel matters and was named NBA Executive of the Year.
