Mets close Frank Francisco says he can't wait to face the Yankees this weekend, calling them "chickens". (Mike Stobe/Getty Images)

If there isn't already enough animosity between the New York Yankees and New York Mets, what Mets closer Frank Francisco said will certainly at fuel to the fire.

"I can’t wait to face those chickens. I want to strike out the side against them. I’ve done it before," Francisco said, according to the New York Post when he was asked about playing the Yankees in this weekend's interleague series.

At least Francisco knew he might have stuck his foot in his mouth, immediately saying, “I think I’ve said too much already.”

Francisco was not lying when he said he had stuck out the side against the Yankees before. When he pitched for the Texas Rangers in May 2004, he struck out Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi in the seventh inning of a game. Francisco is 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA and 17 saves this season.
