Marc Stein of ESPN.com reported on Saturday night that free agent point guard Deron Williams had narrowed his list to two teams: the incumbent Brooklyn Nets and his hometown Dallas Mavericks.

Perhaps emboldened by this news, both franchises publicly went a-courtin' Williams on Tuesday, his 28th birthday.

Williams' wife, Amy, awoke to find a mobile billboard parked outside their Manhattan apartment building. She tweeted a photo to Williams. Not to be outdone, the Mavericks (or at least the city of Dallas) wished Williams a happy birthday on the scoreboard at the Texas Rangers game, complete with a request: BE A MAVERICK.
