Reds closer Aroldis Chapman ruffles feathers with double somersault

Cincinnati Reds coaches and teammates were none too impressed with closer Aroldis Chapman's double somersault after he recorded a save against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

Chapman had gone 0-4 with three blown saves and a 11.37 ERA in his last seven outings, so his exuberance was understandable. But according to Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com, team members were worried that he might injure himself or offend the Brewers, and manager Dusty Baker said after the game that pitching coach Bryan Price had already addressed the matter with Chapman.

Wrote Morosi:

By the time Chapman returned to the clubhouse, the smile he wore on the field was gone. He rested his forehead on a bat as he sat silently at his locker. He declined comment through a team official, saying he was not “mentally ready” to take questions from the media. Veterans Joey Votto and Jay Bruce spoke with Chapman quietly for several minutes after the game.
