The New Orleans Hornets have acquired another piece of their 2012-2013 frontcourt, and the Orlando Magic continue to clean house. In a surprising move, the Hornets will add Magic power forward Ryan Anderson via a sign-and-trade with the Orlando Magic, according to ESPN's Marc Stein on Twitter.

The move will add Anderson to a forward corps that includes 2012 #1 pick Anthony Davis, but few other notable names. Anderson was expected to stay with the Magic after averaging career-highs in every major statistical category - a jump that netted Anderson the NBA's "Most Improved Player" award at the end of the season.Anderson shot 44% from the field, including a 39% mark from 3-point range, in addition to 7.7 rebounds per game.

UPDATE (3:23 p.m. ET) - SI's Sam Amick reports via Twitter that the sign-and-trade deal for Anderson will send forward Gustavo Ayón to Orlando. A native of Mexico, Ayón enjoyed successful stints in the Mexican and Spanish basketball leagues before joining the Hornets last season. Ayón played in 54 games last season, starting 24 of them, averaging six points and four rebounds per game in that time.
