Report: Andrew Bynum might not sign extension with Orlando Magic if traded

It looks like both of the prizes in a potential Los Angeles Lakers-Orlando Magic trade wouldn't be sold on remaining with their new teams for the long-term.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Twitter Sunday night that Lakers center Andrew Bynum "has shown no inclination" toward extending his contract with the Magic if the Lakers worked out a trade for Magic center Dwight Howard that involved Bynum. As SI's Sam Amick wrote last week, the Lakers might have diminished their chances in the Howard sweepstakes by giving up four draft picks for point guard Steve Nash. But Bynum is also seen as the most valuable asset the Magic could receive in any trade for Howard.

This echoes what Howard told Wojnarowski last week, when he said that he'd only be willing to sign an extension with "the one team on my list," which is presumably the Brooklyn Nets.

“There’s only one team on my list and if I don’t get traded there, I’ll play the season out and explore my free agency after that,” Howard said.

Wojnarowski reported, though, that the Lakers are actually more confident in Howard signing an extension with them. The Magic have little inclination to believe that Bynum would sign a long-term extension to remain with a team that is quickly becoming a "rebuilding project."

Wojnarowski also reported that Bynum already has a short list of three teams he'd be interested in signing with as a free agent after next season.
