When Ronny Turiaf turned down his player option to remain with the NBA champion Miami Heat, the decision turned some heads...even in Spain.

A Spanish-language report from encestando.es says that Spanish league power Real Madrid is in the running to land the services of Turiaf, who appeared in 12 games and started seven after being acquired mid-season by the Heat. Turiaf would join former Blazers and Nuggest shooting guard Rudy Fernandez as new signings for Madrid, along with several members of the Spanish national team. Turiaf is expected to weigh his Spanish offer alongside whatever he gets from other NBA teams in the coming weeks.
