The Philadelphia Eagles appear interested in adding a veteran tight end, and the team is bringing in a pair of experienced -- and sometimes outspoken-- players for a workout, according to multiple reports.
The 32-year-old Shiancoe has played the last five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He visited with the New England Patriots last week but reportedly didn't receive an offer from the team. Last season, he caught 36 passes for 409 yards and three touchdowns. He earned some attention this offseason for his tweets calling former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams a "neanderthal" during the Bounty Scandal.
Shockey, 31, played for the Carolina Panthers last year. He caught 37 passes for 455 yards and four touchdowns. He also has a history of earning attention for his off-field antics.
If either tight end is signed, he would be expected to compete with Clay Harbor to be the team's backup tight end.
