Darrelle Revis misses part of Jets practice with hamstring injury

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis sat out most of the team's practice Sunday morning with tightness in his right hamstring, The Star-Ledger's Jenny Vrentas reported. Revis later told reporters that it was not related to unhappiness with his contract situation, and Vrentas confirmed Revis' statements with someone in the organization.

"Come on now. No, no it has nothing to do with that," Revis said when asked if his injury is contract-related. "I'm here. If I wasn’t going to be here, I would have held out, so that’s not the case."

The 27-year-old Revis reported to Jets training camp last week after saying last month that he wasn't sure if he would hold out to revise the rework the four-year, $46 million deal he signed in 2010 after holding out. Upon arriving to camp, he told reporters that he was "close" to holding out.

Revis is scheduled to make $13.5 million total over the next two seasons. His 2010 contract was front-loaded and paid him $32.5 million in the first two years. But Revis said that both he and the Jets always viewed that front-loaded contract as a "band-aid" that could be revisited.

"Something's got to happen sooner or later in terms of my future with the team," Revis said last Thursday. "I want to be here, and I hope Mike and Mr. Woody (Johnson) want me here, but besides that, I've just got to play football and keep on playing the best I can."
