Washington Redskins defensive-end Kentwan Balmer missed his second consecutive day of training camp on Wednesday and head coach Mike Shanahan said he doesn't know why Balmer is missing or where he might be, according to a report Thursday afternoon from Mike Jones of The Washington Post:
“Hopefully it’s nothing very serious,” Shanahan said.
Shanahan is considering it an "unexcused absence."
Redskins defensive-end Stephen Bowen said he hasn't been in contact with Balmer since he's gone missing. Jones said that Bowen is "disturbed" by his absence. The agent for Balmer would not respond to Jones' inquiry into his whereabouts.
This wouldn't be the first time Balmer has mysteriously gone missing. He left the San Francisco 49ers training camp in August 2010 without an excuse and was traded days later to the Seattle Seahawks.
