Currently there are 35 bowl games and a chance for teams to treat their fans to a trip to obscure places like Boise at the end of December.
The NCAA Board of Directors earlier this week approved a selection process for bowl games that includes a chance for teams that finish 5-7 to be selected to play in a bowl.
The 5-7 teams, if they have a top-five score on the Academic Progress Rate, can be selected to participate in a bowl game.
Here are some of the other proposals for teams to go bowling.
A 6-6 team with a victory against an FCS school.A 5-7 team if that team finishes with a top-five APR score.
A 6-6 team with two wins against FCS schools.
A 6-7 team that loses its conference championship game
A 6-7 team that played a 13-game schedule such as Hawaii and any school that travels to Hawaii to play a game.
FCS teams making the move to FBS if they finish with a record of at least 6-6.
