Los Angeles Dodgers righthander Chad Billingsley left his start against the Miami Marlins in the fourth inning with an apparent arm injury. He had allowed three runs on five hits over 3 1/3 innings.
As Steve Berthiaume of ESPN tweeted:
Billingsley was 10-9 with a 3.44 ERA entering Friday's game. He had won his previous six starts, posting a 1.30 ERA in 41 2/3 innings. If Billingsley is out for an extended period, Josh Beckett -- assuming the proposed blockbuster goes through -- could slide right into his spot in the rotation. Beckett is scheduled to start for the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
