Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes is out for the rest of the 2012 season with an Achilles injury, head coach Mike Smith announced at his press conference on Monday.

This offseason, Grimes was tagged as a the team's franchise player and signed the tender after the two sides couldn't come to an agreement on a long-term deal. The one-year deal was reportedly worth $10 million per season. Grimes had six tackles in the Falcons victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
