Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said defensive end Adam Carriker is out for the rest of the 2012 season with a quadriceps tendon tear and that type of injury has a five month recovery time.

Shanahan also announced that outside linebacker Brian Orakpo tore a part of his left pectoral muscle and is also done for the season.

Orakpo partially tore his left pectoral muscle in last season's regular season finale and underwent surgery in the offseason. Orakpo aggravated the injury in the preseason and missed the final two preseason games.
