Veteran center Eddy Curry showed up in shape at the San Antonio Spurs training camp on Monday, reports the San Antonio Express-News.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2001 draft, he has career averages of 13.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, with an All-Star-like 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 81 games with the Knicks in 2006-07.
Curry has played in only 24 games the past three seasons, although he did win a championship ring as a member of the Miami Heat last season.
“I worked hard this summer,” Curry said. “I dropped 15, 20 pounds. I was in pretty good shape when the season ended. I just had to maintain, trim up a little bit more.”
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said he noticed the change in Curry's appearance.
“I didn’t know much about Eddy Curry and he did come into camp lighter than I thought he would,” Popovich said.
