One day after cutting ties with first year guards Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith, the Celtics have signed a minimum veteran contract with Leandro Barbosa.
The signing will help load Boston's backcourt, which already includes Rajon Rondo, Courtney Lee, Avery Bradley and Jason Terry.
Barbosa adds speed and scoring to Boston's arsenal, but can also handle the ball. Doc Rivers has suggested that Boston might have the deepest backcourt in the league once Bradley is healthy.
The 6-foot-3point guard averaged 8.9 points in 22 games last season with the Indiana Pacers. The addition of Barbosa should add offensive power and eliminate scoring dry spells that affected the team last season.
