NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci said he would not discuss -- but did not completely deny -- a report by SI.com's Peter King during "Football Night in America" Sunday night that he has interest in coaching the Chargers next season.

Mariucci replied to the report Sunday night on the NFL Network, referring to King as a friend but saying he has not discussed the Chargers' job with him, and would not comment on the job while "very good friend" Norv Turner is still the team's coach.

A San Diego Union-Tribune report said Turner and general manager A.J. Smith would be fired at the end of the 2012 regular season.

"I would never comment on a coaching job where there's a coach in place, and the coach down there in San Diego happened to be a very good friend of mine, Norv Turner," Mariucci said on NFL Network. "There's no way I would ever discuss this right now, I don't know where it comes from. Let's just stop the nonsense, OK? Please."

Mariucci has not coached since being fired by the Lions in 2005, and but has not denied having an interest in returning to coaching. He reportedly was interested in the University of Arkansas job before the Hogs hired Bret Bielema.
