Bears hire Mel Tucker as new defensive coordinator

The Chicago Bears have finalized a deal to hire Mel Tucker as their new DC. Tucker formerly led the Jaguars' and then the Browns' defense and will now replace Rod Marinelli as defensive coordinator for the Bears.

Tucker was considered a head coaching candidate and interviewed for a few positions. He served as interim head coach for Jacksonville at the end of 2011 after Del Rio was fired, going 2-3 with the Jaguars.

The Chicago Bears are expected to retain defensive line coach Mike Phair.
