The Winnipeg Jets sent former first-round pick Mark Scheifele back to the Barrie Colts of the OHL, according to multiple reports on Twitter.

Scheifele, a 19-year-old center, was Winnipeg's top pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The team could keep him in the NHL for up to five games without burning the first year of his entry-level contract. As Scheifele's playing time dropped, it appeared Winnipeg was leaning toward returning him to the OHL after his five-game run.

But then Winnipeg started stalling on the decision, scratching Scheifele from the lineup multiple times without deciding whether to keep him on roster permanently. Now, he will get another season of experience in the OHL before trying to move into the NHL lineup. Scheifele, in limited opportunities, failed to score in his four NHL games this year.
