Warriors to don new short sleeve uniforms

Monday February 11th, 2013

The Golden State Warriors will be the first modern NBA team to break with the most traditional of basketball fashions. The team unveiled a short-sleeved alternate jersey Monday, with pictures of the garment appearing in the San Jose Mercury-News.

The jersey, designed in conjunction with Adidas, is made of ultra lightweight fabric, and features distinctive (for basketball) short sleeves instead of the traditional tank top. While t-shirt jersey designs have been rejected in the past because of their interference with a players' shooting stroke, these jerseys feature compression sleeves that do not impede the range of motion of the players' arms.

The Warriors will debut the new jerseys on February 22nd in a home game against the San Antonio Spurs, a game which will be broadcast on ESPN. According to the Mercury-News, the Warriors tested the jerseys in preseason and have completed full practices in them as well.
