Russian meteor damages KHL's Traktor arena

The meteor shower which struck Russia Friday morning could affect the Kontinental Hockey League playoffs.

The explosion of the meteor's impact shook buildings and shattered glass, causing as many as 725 people to seek medical help according to RIA Novosti news agency.

Damage to the walls of Arena Traktor, the Chelyabinsk home to the Traktor club, must be inspected and assessed before games can be played, according to the league.

Traktor, which concludes its regular season with a road trip to Magnitogorsk, was not scheduled to host Gagarin Cup playoff games until Feb. 21 and 22, but youth league games and this weekend's opening of Traktor's museum have been postponed.
