New York Knicks forward Rasheed Wallace will have surgery on a broken bone in his foot and will likely be out for the rest of the season, the team announced Wednesday.

Wallace has been out since December, though the team had said it hoped he would be able to return at some point. He is expected to miss eight weeks following the surgery, which leaves open a possibility he could return during the postseason. But it's also possible the 38-year-old has played his last NBA game. Before joining the Knicks this year, Wallace had last played for Boston in 2010. With New York, he averaged 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
