Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said he isn't thinking of retirement, even though his comments after his team was soundly beaten by Georgetown on Saturday suggests otherwise.

The Orange lost 61-39 to the Hoyas and the 39 points are the lowest a Boeheim-coached Syracuse squad has ever scored.

“Well, you know, I’m pretty much ready to go play golf some place,” Boeheim said. “If I was 40 years old, I’d be real upset. I’m not … 40 years old. That should be obvious.”

Boeheim, 68, is in his 37th season as the coach of Syracuse and has 912 victories over his career.

“I haven’t given a thought to retiring,” declared Boeheim, who is in his 50th consecutive year — as student, player and coach — at Syracuse. “There’s nothing to talk about because I haven’t given a thought to it. I’ve never … ever … ever … ever … said anything about retiring."
