David Wright scratched from USA's WBC game vs. Dominican Republic

In a big blow to Team USA right before its big World Baseball Classic matchup with the Dominican Republic on Thursday, third baseman David Wright was scratched with a sore back.

Wright has been carrying Team USA's offense through the squad's first four games, going 7 for 16 with one homer and 10 RBI. Willie Bloomquist took his spot in the starting lineup, but Team USA will need to get more significant contributions from sluggers Ryan Braun, Joe Mauer and Giancarlo Stanton.

Team USA and the Dominican Republic are meeting for the first time in WBC history with a berth in the tournament's semifinals on the line. The loser will play Puerto Rico on Friday at 7 p.m. in a win-or-go-home matchup.
