Creighton University is prepared to accept an invitation to join the new Big East, according to a report from the Omaha World-Herald.

The Bluejays will join the so-called "Catholic seven" -- Georgetown, DePaul, St. John's, Marquette, Villanova, Providence and Seton Hall -- in the newly formed league.

News of Creighton joining the Big East comes only a few hours after an earlier report stated Butler would also be joining the conference. It is widely-expected that Xavier, a current Atlantic 10 member like Butler, will be the new league's tenth member.

Xavier's announcement is expected to come at some point over the next few days, according to reports.

The new league and its multi-million dollar television deal with FOX Sports are likely to be announced at some point prior to the start of next week's NCAA tournament.
