Shane Lechler and Texans agree to three-year deal

The Houston Texans agreed to terms with former All-Pro punter Shane Lechler, according to Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain. Lechler and the Texans agreed to a three-year, $5.5 million deal that includes a $1 million signing bonus, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Lechler, a Texas native and Texas A&M alum, was drafted in the fifth round by the Oakland Raiders in 2000. Lechler has spent his entire NFL career with Oakland, averaging 47.5 yards-per-punt over 13 seasons.

According to McClain, Texans GM Rick Smith wanted to sign Lechler four years ago before the punter re-signed with the Raiders.
