Penguins acquire Douglas Murray from San Jose

The Pittsburg Penguins have acquired San Jose Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray in exchange for two second-round picks, according to multiple reports. Murray is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Murray joins a Penguins team that trails only the Chicago Blackhawks in overall points this season in the NHL. The Penguins sit atop the Atlantic Division with a 14-point lead over the New Jersey Devils.

Murray had spent his entire eight-year NHL career with the Sharks but with San Jose scuffling this season, Murray said he wasn't shocked that a deal was struck with the Penguins.

The Sharks second pick from the Penguins is a conditional pick if Murray doesn't re-sign with Pittsburg.
