Rockies, Dodgers agree to trade Ramon Hernandez for Aaron Harang
The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a trade that would send catcher Ramon Hernandez to Los Angeles for pitcher Aaron Harang, according to multiple reports.
Colorado did not plan on playing Hernandez, a 36-year-old who is owed $3.2 million this season, after he lost the backup catcher spot to Yorvit Torrealba this spring and was designated for assignment. He will back up A.J. Ellis for the Dodgers.
Hernandez hit .217 in 52 games for the Rockies last season.
Harang, a 34-year-old right-hander who is owed $4.25 million, also lost his job with the Dodgers when the additions of Josh Beckett, Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu forced him out of the rotation.Harang owns a career record of 105-104 with a 4.19 career ERA. He went 10-10 with a 3.61 ERA for the Dodgers last season.
