NFL to meet with NY attorney general’s office to explain combine questions

A small number of NFL hopefuls were reportedly asked during team interviews at the Scouting Combine in February what their sexual orientation was.

Now the league will have to explain to members of the New York attorney general’s office on Tuesday detailing their investigation into why players were asked those questions, reports the New York Times.

Colorado tight end Nick Kasa said in an radio interview.that he was asked by a team, "Do you like girls?" The league issued a statement saying its policy did not allow sexual orientation to be considered in hiring, and that all teams are expected to adhere to applicable employment laws

The NFL's investigation concluded that the questions was “chatter that was inappropriate,” but didn't violate a specific policy and that no teams would be punished.

From the New York Times:

The attorney general’s office, though, wants more of an explanation. According to people briefed on the coming meeting, it will not be attended by Roger Goodell, the N.F.L. commissioner, or Eric T. Schneiderman, the attorney general. It will focus on specifics of the league’s investigation and will press the league about what new policies will be put in place to prevent similar questions from being asked again.
