Kevin Love will have surgery on his knee, officially out for the season

The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced that Kevin Love will have surgery on his left knee to remove a buildup of scar tissue. The surgery is reportedly "minor," and Love's knee was bothering him for "much of the season."

After not being cleared for contact earlier in April, Love was already likely out for the rest of this season. With recovery time for his surgery at 4-6 weeks, it makes sense for Love to get the surgery now. If all goes well, he should be healed with plenty of time to get in shape and rehabilitate for next season.

Love missed almost the entire season, playing only 18 games and breaking his hand twice, once in October and again in February. The last game he played was February 3rd, and at this point, it's best for Love to write off this season as lost and do everything he can to get better for next year.
