Geno Auriemma has lawsuit tossed by New York judge

UConn's women's basketball head coach Geno Auriemma had a discrimination and assault lawsuit brought against him by an NBA security official tossed out of a New York court April 11.

But the dismissal does not necessarily mean the charges are without merit. The Associated Press is reporting that Supreme Court Justice Cynthia S. Kern threw out the case because the alleged conduct did not happen in New York.

The case, which was filed in June 2012 by NBA security official Kelley Hardwick, alleges Auriemma made a number of sexual advances toward Hardwick but she repeatedly turned them down. Subsequently, Hardwick was removed from the security personnel for the U.S. women's basketball team during the Olympics. Auriemma, who coached the women's team to a gold medal last summer at the Olympics, denied the allegations and Hardwick was placed back into London's security that summer after she filed the lawsuit.
