Report: Nationals pick up GM Mike Rizzo's option for 2014

The Washington Nationals have decided to pick up general manager Mike Rizzo's option for next season, MLB.com's Bill Ladson reported Thursday. Ladson also reported that Rizzo and the Nationals are seeking an agreement on a long-term extension beyond 2014.

Rizzo was named the team's interim GM in 2009 after previous GM Jim Bowden's resignation, and he was given the permanent job later that season.
