Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby will not play in Wednesday's playoff opener, he told reporters.
Crosby broke his jaw in a game with the Islanders on March 30, when a shot hit him in the face. He has been out since. Crosby returned to practice last week but has yet to be cleared for game action.
The Penguins wrapped up the Eastern Conference's top seed without Crosby but surely want him back for as much of the postseason as possible. Crosby was third in the NHL in scoring (15 goals and 41 assists), despite playing in only 36 of 48 games this year.
