Roy Halladay likely to be placed on DL, will see doctor about shoulder soreness

Philadelphia Phillies starter Roy Halladay will likely be placed on the disabled list over a lingering soreness in his shoulder, the team said Sunday.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters that Halladay would head to the DL, just after Halladay was rocked for nine runs in just 2 1/3 innings against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Amaro said Sunday that Halladay would head to see Dr. Lewis Yocum about his shoulder soreness.

Halladay told reporters after his outing Sunday that he has experienced the soreness since April 25. He also said that the soreness has become progressively worse over the past two weeks.

Halladay has struggled immensely this season — particularly in the two starts after he started experiencing the soreness in his shoulder. In his last two starts against the Cleveland Indians and Marlins, he has been hit for 17 earned runs in just six combined innings pitched. On the season, he is 2-4 with an 8.65 ERA.
