Surveys conducted by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research has found that Tim Tebow is the most influential athlete in 2013, Forbes reported on Monday. Following Tebow on Forbes' list are Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and Derek Jeter as the most influential athletes of 2013.

Tebow, who has over 2.2 million followers on Twitter, appeared in 11 games for the Jets last season and accumulated just 39 yards passing on eight attempts. Stephen Master, Senior Vice President of Sports for Nielsen, said it's "incredible" for a backup quarterback to be talked about so much but cited New York's major media market as fueling Tebow's influence.
