LeBron James took to Twitter to defend his former Cavaliers teammate Danny Green, who has received backlash since photos and videos emerged of the Spurs' wing greeting the Miami Heat at Story nightclub following their NBA Finals win on Thursday.

"Danny Green did not party with us on Thursday night. He came to say congrats," James tweeted on Sunday afternoon, saying he was "proud" of Green for his development.

Green was the story of the series through five games, in which he broke the NBA Finals record by sinking 25 threes on 38 attempts. The Cavs' second-round draft pick in 2009, Green was waived by both Cleveland and San Antonio before spending time in the NBA D-League and becoming the Spurs' starting shooting guard.

Green himself tweeted on Friday to clarify that he was not "celebrating" with the Heat but just "happened to be there."
