The Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves have discussed potential trade scenarios that would send young guard MarShon Brooks to Minnesota, the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy reported Monday.
Bondy speculates that the Nets would be interested in one of the Timberwolves' experienced point guards -- either J.J. Barea or Luke Ridnour. According to the report, no deal is imminent. The Nets are over the luxury tax limit, so they would have to add more to the deal for it to come to fruition.
Brooks excelled as a rookie but regressed significantly in a more limited role last year with the Nets. He saw his minutes decline from nearly 30 per game in 2011 to just more than 12 per game last season. His points-per-game average dropped from 12.6 to 5.4, and his assist totals fell from 2.3 per game in 2011 to just one per game last year.
