Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood found a dead body floating in a harbor in Chicago, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The report says that Wood was paddle boarding in Belmont Harbor around 11:10 a.m. Monday when he saw the body and immediately called 911 to  report it to authorities. The victim was a 40-year-old man who had been reported missing from a nursing home last week.

Wood, a two-time National League All-Star and NL Rookie of the Year, retired in 2012 after pitching 13 seasons with the Cubs, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians. After his retirement, Wood accepted a position with the Cubs as a spring training instructor.

More from the Tribune:

Officers notified Area North detectives and took photos of the body, according to the report.  On the victim's left wrist was an identification tag indicating the man had been reporting missing by a North Side nursing home after being released by a local hospital on June 19, the report said.
