Report: Brewers 1B Corey Hart likely to miss entire season

Brewers first baseman Corey Hart may miss the entire season after trying to come back from offseason knee surgery, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Initially the Brewers hoped Hart would be back by June; a few weeks ago, they indicated he might be out until the All-Star break. Now, Heyman's report says he is likely to miss the entire season.
Hart, 31, had extensive surgery on his right knee in January. The procedure was reportedly arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus and have a joint surface debrided.

When asked about Hart's status, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said nothing was certain yet. From the CBS Sports report:
"We don't know yet," Melvin said. "That's the problem. You really don't known until someone goes out on a rehab assignment. Until a guy plays games in rehab, you don't know. Guys can look they can play, but until they play with game intensity it's always hard to gauge."
Last season, Hart hit .270/.334/.507 with 30 homers and 83 RBIs. He has spent the entirety of his nine-year career with the Brewers and was an All-Star in 2008 and 2010.
