Jose Calderon's career in Detroit might be short-lived.

The unrestricted free agent, who was sent to Detroit in January in a three-way trade with the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors, is meeting with the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, his agent, Mark Bartelstein told HoopsHype.com.

The 31-year-old Calderon will be in Sacramento on Tuesday to meet with the Kings' new owner, Vivek Ranadive, General Manager Pete D'Alessandro, head coach Mike Malone and Chris Mullin, who has been unofficially advising the team during the offseason. Calderon arrived to the U.S. from his native Spain on Monday and will fly back later in the week.

Last season, Calderon averaged 11.3 points and 7.1 assists per game for the Raptors and then the Pistons in the second half of the season. The Kings are faced with matching a four-year, $44 million offer that guard Tyreke Evans received on Monday from the New Orleans Pelicans, so Sacramento's meeting with Calderon could be part of the team's contingency plan should it decide to move forward without Evans.

If Calderon does end up in Sacramento, he will be faced with splitting time between the team's number of guards, as Isaiah Thomas, Jimmer Fredette, Marcus Thornton and rookie Ben McLemore will share the backcourt next season.
