Free agent guard J.R. Smith is nearing an agreement to re-sign with the New York Knicks, reports Yahoo! Sports.
The Knicks and Smith are reportedly still finalizing years and options in the deal.
Smith was the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award winner after averaging 18.1 points and 5.3 rebounds a contest. Smith is an unrestricted free agent after opting out of his $2.9 million player option for next year and could make up to $5.58 million with the Early Bird rights if he stays with the Knicks.

The Milwaukee Bucks
also reportedly had interest in Smith.
