Monta Ellis has been discussing a deal with the Sacramento Kings that would pay him around the $12 million a year he desires, CBS.com reports. To sign Ellis, the Kings will need to clear some money, and the team is looking to trade guard Jimmer Fredette to create room for Ellis.

Sacramento is also looking to move forward Chuck Hayes. Hayes and Fredette are set to make more than $8 million combined next season.

From CBSSports.com:

It's not clear what the market is for Ellis at this point, but a league source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Monday that the Kings are investigating their options for moving Chuck Hayes and Jimmer Fredette to accommodate Ellis' desire for a contract starting at $12 million per year. It may be Ellis' last chance to recoup the money he opted out of in Milwaukee.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in Fredette, who averaged 7.2 points per game last season while coming off the bench. Sacramento has had Fredette on the trade block since before the NBA draft, but now there is extra incentive to part ways with the 24-year-old sharp shooter.
